Montanoa bipinnatifida is an erect evergreen shrub that is native to Mexico. It has thick stems that grow from the base >4m tall. The hairy, deep green, leaves are up to 75 cm long, deeply divided into 8 to 10 lobes, the lower 2 narrower and directed downward, Sometimes the upper leaves not divided.
During the autumn and winter white, fragrant, daisy-like flowers with yellow centres bloom on long stems. The flowers are followed by chartreuse seed heads. 
This tree attracts butterflies.
