Hebe x franciscana 'Lobelioides’ is one of several crosses between Hebe elliptica and H. speciosa which was raised in Salisbury UK in 1868.. The parents are both found naturally in New Zealand with the latter also inhabiting southern South America and the Malvinas/Falkland Islands. There is confusion of its name and its relation to other similar cultivars. Its hardy plant for coastal areas where it will stand salt laden winds and dry conditions. It will grow in shaded areas.
