Gazania rigens var. uniflora is a low, spreading half-hardy perennial native to Knysna in the Western Cape, all along the coast to the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Swaziland and also southern Mozambique. In New Zealand, the species has become naturalised in some coastal areas.
The bright, yellow flower heads appear throughout summer. The yellow rays are without a black spot near the base.
The heads when fully expanded are 25–40 mm in diameter across the rays. The flowers involucre are campanulated and are 7–8(–10) mm long.
The green leaves are glabrous above and white underneath.
