Common names: Sticky stalked daisy
Celmisia hieracifolia is a simple tufted daisy occurring usually as a single rosette. Their wavy leathery leaves are >12cm long and >2cm wide and have slightly tooth margins with a dull green upper surface that is slightly sticky while underneath they are a white-buff colour with tomentose.
In December to February Celmisia hieracifolia produces white flowers with yellow centres which are 3 to 4 cm across and are on 5-25cm long sticky glandular hairy stalks.
It is a variable species due in part to hybridism. Its habitat is in snow tussock-herbfields usually in areas that are more open. Found in both the North and South Islands of New Zealand.
