Notopsalta sericea is a fairly common cicada found in New Zealand on the Three Kings Islands and in the North Island. It is also found in southeast Australia.
Its body length is less than 19mm. Its habitat is lowland areas, mostly coastal; mainly on cliffs, clay banks, dunes, and roadsides; on bare ground surfaces, trees, scrub, and grass; also on the walls of buildings.
