Ophiopogon is a species of Ophiopogon native to China, India, Japan, and Vietnam. It is a clump-forming plant with fine dark green foliage used around the world as in gardens as a ground cover.
It is an evergreen, sod-forming perennial plant growing up to 37 cm wide. The dark green, grass-like leaves are linear, >30 cm long. The flowers that develop in summer are white through to pale lilac in colour and they are borne in a short raceme on a 5–10 cm stem. The fruit is a blueberry 5 mm diameter. Underground, this species has large stolons with tuberous roots.
