Hebe rimutaka is a bushy, soft looking, evergreen shrub growing to 1.5 m or more high. The light green long narrow leaves hang down in a distinctive curve. This species was found in the Wairarapa on the Rimutaka Range (a ridge running parallel with the east coast of the island between East Cape and Wellington).

This specimen is growing at the Otari Wilton Bush Reserve, Wellington.
