Species in the genus Isotachis are leafy liverworts (hepatics) in the order Jungermanniales which is the largest order of liverworts. They are distinctive among the liverworts for having thin leaf-like flaps on either side of the stem.

The photos below are of a liverwort in the genus Isotachis. It was growing on a damp bank in a sub alpine area on the Denniston plateau. North Westland, New Zealand.
