The genus Helichrysum consists of an estimated 600 species, in the sunflower family (Asteraceae). The name is derived from the Greek words helisso (to turn around) and chrysos (gold).

This small shrub in the photos below has dense tiny hairy leaves, tiny white flowers over summer.
