Voriini is a tribe of flies in the family Tachinidae. The family Tachinid flies are a species of flies with a length of 2 mm > 2 cm. Their colours are very different. Most Tachinidae have many bristles.
The larvae develop inside a living host. Mostly the host will be killed. The host can be a caterpillar, larvae of beetles, sawflies etc.
The family Tachinidae is divided into subfamilies. Namely: Dexiinae, Exoristinae, Phasiinnae, Tachininae. These subfamilies are divided into Tribes. The Tribes are divided in general.
This fly is a member of the Voriini tribe and was photographed at Granity, North Westland.
