Gellonia pannularia is a native moth (4.5 cm wingspan) found throughout New Zealand. during January through to March. It rests with wing patterns lined up for camouflage. The caterpillars eat the leaves of pine and many native trees. Thanks to Andrew Crow and his book "Which New Zealand Insect?" for the above information.
