Gamochaeta simplicicaulis which is now naturalized in New Zealand is a weed found in open sites, sandy soil, roadsides, fields, open woods and dunes from Waikato, Bay of Plenty northwards.
It is an annual or biennial weed growing to a height of approximately 0.85 meters. It has simple leaves that are arranged opposite one another. They are oblanceolate with entire margins.
