Ramalina is a genus of greenish, fruticose lichens that grow in the form of flattened, strap-like branches or in a bush like form. They can be erect, prostrate, subpendent or pendant, usually attached by a basal holdfast. Most of this genus grow on trees, fence posts and telegraph poles, a few grow on rocks. They can be a dull green, whitish or dull yellow colour. The usually grow in full or moderate sunlight and can not be found in deep forests.
