Genus: Gymnopilus
Gymnopilus is a genus of gilled mushrooms within the fungal family Strophariaceae containing about 200 species. Their spores are warty (under the microscope) and are of a rusty brown/orange colour. Their spore dust frequently coats everything within a few centimetres of the mushroom.
The photos below are of a mushroom with a 25mm cap with a rough surface. They were growing on old hardwood post lying on the ground.
Might be Gymnopilus purpuratus?.
