Hebe gracillima is a native, upright, open, evergreen, bushy shrub found damp places around Westport and in montane to lowland sites in the north west part of South Island. It obtains a height of >2 m. The green leaves are about 4 cm long. Long slender white flower spikes appear in spring and summer.
Recent research has subsumed this species with Hebe leiophylla.
