Raoulia subsericea is a native, prostrate alpine plant which is a member of Scabweeds (Genus Raoulia). It is widespread in the South Islands in all but the wettest mountains at altitudes of 400-1500m. Its habitat is tussock grasslands.
It has been reported once in 1970 by a Mrs Rainforth, a member of the Wellington Botanical Society, on the west face of a ridge at 305 m.a.s.l. in the hills above Ngaio, Wellington. The grid reference is N164 310261.
It forms loose mats of coarse grey-green leaves. The leaves undersides are thinly coated in tomentum.
The flower heads (7-10mm across) are prominent and are surrounded by papery, straw-coloured petal-like scales with blunt white tips.
