Hypericum patulum is a perennial woody evergreen member of the Hypericum genus in the family Hypericaceae. It natural habits are shady ravines and open hillsides, 1500 - 2400 metres in E. Asia - W. China, Japan and the Himalayas.
It is a shrub that grows >1.5 m at a medium rate. The blooms are a golden yellow colour and appear over summer. The flowers are hermaphrodites (have both male and female organs) and are pollinated by insects. The plant is self-fertile.
