Botanical name: Hebe 'Wiri Desire'
Hebe ‘Wiri Desire’ was bred by Auckland Botanic Gardens curator-manager Jack Hobbs. One parent was Hebe speciosa the other is unknown. It is the largest of the Wiri series growing to 1.5m high and 1m wide. During autumn it sports masses of deep rose pink flowers on 7cm long inflorescences. The dark green foliage can be flushed with bronze tints. It likes open sunny areas including coastal conditions but needs protection from frosts.
